The original State of Decay was all about surviving as long as possible in the zombie apocalypse. The sequel is shaping up like a bigger, better version of that same idea. Below, you’ll find all the news, trailers, and previews that have come out for State of Decay 2 since it was announced.
During Microsoft’s E3 2017 presentation, the company showed off a meaty trailer for this zombie survival RPG.
It also revealed the pushed-back release window. Originally State of Decay 2 was to be released sometime in 2017. The new window is spring 2018.

During Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2016, the company pulled back the curtain on State of Decay 2, a new zombie survival RPG that promises to pull no punches.
New this time time around is co-op multiplayer support that lets you play with up to three friends, dropping in and out of each other’s games at any time. In an interview with the founder of Undead Labs, we learned that the game was originally envisioned as an MMO before the developers changed course.
It wasn’t until December 2016 that we got new info about State of Decay 2. Speaking with the developers, we learned how players will be able to interact with one another and with the game world. There’s a lot of new information packed into the interview, so give it a read to learn more.
In January, State of Decay 2 made it onto our list of the Top 10 Most Anticipated Multiplayer Games of 2017.
A few months later, we learned that State of Decay 2 will ship with three maps, each one roughly the size of the original game.
