At Star Wars Celebration today, it was revealed that a previously announced Star Wars novel is actually a tie-in to Star Wars Battlefront II.
During the Battlefront II reveal panel, Christie Golden’s novel Inferno Squad was revealed to actually be called Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad, which is currently available for preorder . Inferno Squad commander Iden Versio was revealed as the protagonist of Battlefront II, and the tie-in novel will follow, according to Golden, how the Imperial squad met, their first mission, and “how they learned to become this well-oiled machine,” according to Golden.
The game, meanwhile, will explore Versio’s story between the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Among the novel’s locations will be Versio’s home world, Vardos, which will also be a place players get to visit in the game as well.
Inferno Squad was announced as a Rogue One sequel novel back in February, focusing on a team of Imperial soldiers aiming to “infiltrate and eliminate the remnants of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans” after the events of Rogue One.
Alongside the announcement of the novel’s focus, a brand new cover for Inferno Squad also debuted at the panel.
Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad is still set to release on July 25.
Battlefront II will be available on November 17. IGN had a chance to preview both the single player and the multiplayer of Battlefront II, while EA Dice revealed the first story details about the sequel — including that you can play as Luke and Kylo Ren during the campaign.
